MIXING

Mixing is where recordings can really come to life, and I'm a firm believer that it should be a collaborative process. You may have a particular sound or feel in mind for your music that goes beyond simply providing a reference track. For this reason I believe it’s important to have an open discussion with every client before we begin a mixing project. This enables us to better align our mutual vision for the final mix, to share ideas and suggestions, and ensures that all music is given the care and attention it deserves.

MY APPROACH

Some genres I’ve worked with in the past include; Indie, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Post-Rock, Folk, Big Band, Electronic, Funk. Although every genre and artist has their own unique set of characteristics, my personal view is that the role of a mixing engineer remains unchanged in any situation – to balance, create clarity and focus, and engineer an experience that engages the listener from start to finish while putting the artist front and centre.

RATES

My standard mixing rate for a single track ranges from £150-200. If the arrangement is more complex or requires substantial editing work, such as tuning, drum augmentation, re-amping, the rate may be slightly higher. Similarly, if a track is stripped back such as a vocal and accompaniment then the rate will be adjusted accordingly. Project rates are also available if you’d like me to mix multiple tracks.
